Mary was born in 1815, possibly at Bridge Street, St. Werburgh, Derby, Derbyshire. Her father was Samuel LEAVERS.

On 09 July 1834 she had a child by a man named Carter.

She was recorded as a servant prior to her marriage to James, and still living at Bridge Street, St. Werburgh, Derby.

On 24 September 1838 she married James TOMASIN at St Werburgh Parish Church, Derby. Together they had thirteen other children between 1838 and 1857.

Mary could not write - she made her mark on her wedding certificate.

Mary and James were living at Burr Lane, Ilkeston, Derbyshire at the 1851 census.

Mary died on 23 July 1859 of a Carcinoma Utari at Ilkeston, Derbyshire.
